Our 2nd skateboarding lesson

Our skateboard instructor is called Aidan

He asked us to put on our safety gear.
Amelia and Georgia are listening very carefully.
We are getting much quicker at putting our gear on.
Here is Hannah looking rather smart with all her gear on!
We are getting ready to get on our skateboards safely
with only one foot on the board.

Hannah has her 2 feet on the skateboard and is ready to go!

You have been so brave Hannah!
Well done
We all look so smart in our safety gear.
Aidan said we look like Ninja Turtles:)
Arjun is showing Aidan that he is removing his gear carefully
when we are finished our lesson. Well done Arjun.

Room 16 thoroughly enjoy their skateboarding lessons.
They are all being so clever and are skateboarding very confidently.

This week, Week 3, we have had the pleasure of having a new girl in our classroom
Her name is Madison and she has settled into our classroom so easily.
WELCOME TO OUR AWESOME CLASS Madison.

In the weekend it was Chinese New Year.
Miss Weon is from Korea and she was keen to share and discuss
what happens at  Chinese New Year.
It is the Year of the Goat so Miss Weon decided to do some hand prints with the class.
This formed the shape of the animal.
The class could choose to do a Goat or a dragon.
Here is Miss Woen doing a demonstration of how to do the printing with the side of her hand.

This was so much fun! Miss Weon and Mrs.M.R. displayed all this wonderful
work on the wall after school today.

Shania is having great fun doing her animal.

The Apple of our Eye Booklet

In Room 16 we have  'The Apple of our Eye'.
This is when a child chooses to be The Apple of our Eye for the week.
A girl can choose one week and then a boy until all the children
have had a turn.  They bring in a collection of items about their interests and hobbies.
The class asks them 3 questions and makes 3 comments.
They also have an Apple of our Eye booklet and this is for the class to write in
happy thoughts about the child.  This is our way of Filling our Buckets
 The children love it :)

In Week 2 Our Apple of our Eye was Isabella.
This is when a child chooses to have a turn at bringing in a collection
of things that shows his/her  interests and hobbies.
They also have a booklet and in this booklet the class writes lots of positive and kind                                  comments about the person being the Apple of our Eye.
These are 'bucket filling' comments.

It is going to be Lincoln next week...

We talked about the Treaty of Waitangi.
Then we wrote some facts about the Treaty.
We printed out some pictures from the computer and stuck them beside our writing.
We made a book for the class.  Here it is in the picture :)
Brandon and his  family have  been to the Waitangi Treaty house.
His Dad is a Chief and he is called a Chieftain.
Brandon brought in a copy of the Treaty he bought at the Treaty house.
Thankyou Brandon for sharing. This is so exciting!
.

On the first day of Term the class did a 'Getting to know you'  activity
using balloons.
We drew our faces on the balloon and then passed it to someone
telling that person something about our selves.   We had lots of fun!

Welcome back to school.

We are very lucky to have a Grad student this year:)
Her name is Miss Weon.  She is originally from Korea.
Miss Weon is working with us in the class for nearly 3 full weeks
and then she 'll come in every Tuesday.
We love having you in our class Miss Weon.

I will be teaching Monday -Thursday each week and Ms Noakes will
teach on Fridays.  Her passion is writing, art  and music.
How lucky is Room 16 :) :)

We have a busy Term 1 planned.
Our Middle school trip is to Orewa beach on Friday, 13th February.

Our library day is Wednesday 1.30- 2.15
The children need to bring their library bag each week.

We are also very lucky to have skateboarding every Thursday this Term for 5 weeks.
Children will need to wear shoes.  Thankyou

Miss Weon, Ms Noakes  and I look forward to meeting you all over the next few weeks:)
